IMPORTANT Amendments to the NDIS Practice Standards from 15 November 2021

The NDIS Commission has recently made amendments to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Provider Registration and Practice Standards) Rules 2018 and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Quality Indicators) Guidelines 2018.

The new amendments come into effect from Monday 15 November 2021, with limited transitional arrangements for existing NDIS providers as per below.  

Amendments include:

  • 3 new Practice Standards
    • Mealtime Management (applies from 13 December 2021)
    • Severe Dysphagia Management (no transitional period)
    • Emergency and Disaster Management (applies from 24 January 2022)
  • Core Module Practice Standards updated including
    • Risk Management
    • Human Resources
    • Continuity of Supports
    • Support Planning
    • Service Agreements
    • Responsive Support Provision
    • Transition to/from Provider
    • Safe Environment
    • Management of Waste
  • Module 3: Early Childhood Supports Practice Standards updated
    • The Child
  • Verification Module
    • Human Resource Management
    • Risk Management
  • Terminology and Definition Updates
