It was ending up in the emergency department at 20 years of age after a motor bike accident started my long career in quality improvement in health and human services. I was intending to be a journalist for National Geographic, not that they knew that, but after twelve months in hospital my life took a different path. Being an observer of the complexities of health care taught me a lot about how people systems and processes come together to produce outcomes either good or in my case less than ideal. Fast forward to today and I have over 30 years experience in senior operational, governance and consultancy roles in disability, aged care, out of home care public and private hospitals and local government.
I’m a registered nurse having completed a Bachelor of Applied Science and have a PhD from the University of Sydney. I remain passionate about social justice and equity of access and recently was nominated and accepted as a community representative for the Central Coast Social Inclusion Advisory Committee. It is with pleasure that I have to opportunity to partner with Engels Floyd and Associates.
