NDIS Review: NDIS Provider and Worker Registration Taskforce

Minister for the NDIS, Bill Shorten, has announced a new Taskforce to help improve NDIS registration.  The NDIS Review recommended a risk-proportionate and graduated approach to regulation, which includes registration and enrolment for all NDIS providers.

The new Taskforce will be led by lawyer and disability advocate Natalie Wade, former chair of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission Allan Fels, former Australian Council of Trade Unions Assistant Secretary Michael Borowick, and former Administrator of the Northern Territory Vicki O’Halloran.

The Taskforce will look at ways to ensure all providers meet a minimum regulatory standard, especially those delivering more intensive supports, while minimising the administrative impacts associated with the enrolment and registration process. The Taskforce will also ensure that participants continue to exercise choice and control, which is balanced with quality and safety.

We look forward to reading the report from the Taskforce which is due in mid-2024.
